The City of Charleston's Southern Marlins Racing Team (SMRT) is a year-round competitive swimming program designed to advance swimmers from learn-to-swim programs into competition at the local, state, zone and national levels. SMRT offers training for every age and ability level and our coaching staff constantly works with every swimmer to improve their skills and endurance. Practices are held at several locations in the surrounding Charleston area. The MLK Pool facility (downtown Charleston) is an Olympic size 50-meter pool. The WLS Pool facility (West of the Ashley) and the YMCA Pool facility (Summerville) are both 25-yard pools. The dowtown pool is located at 155 Jackson St (click to see map). The West Ashley pool is located at 780 West Oak Forest Drive (click to see map). The YMCA pool is located at 900 Crosscreek Dr (click to see map). Head Coach Dan McDonough has been developing swimmers locally for over a decade and has produced swimmers at all levels of competition. Assisting Dan is the finest staff of coaches in the state.
