Wow! We are racing faster than we thought towards the total amount of money needed ($50,000) for Phase I of our project - to purchase and install a cooling system at the City of Charleston Martin Luther King Pool in downtown Charleston. The swimmers have exceeded expectations for our Cool the Pool Swim-A-Thon both in the pool and out. So we have raised the bar. Let's see how far these kids can go. Remember, we have until October 31st!

Typical Swim-A-Thons held by competitive swim teams benefit the swimmers and their families by reducing costs of their programming. That is where this Swim-A-Thon sets itself apart. These kids are raising funds, not for themselves, but for improvements to a municipal facility where they train. These funds, and the cooling system that will ultimately be installed, will not only benefit the team, but also Masters swimmers, lap swimmers, the learn to swim program, the summer camps, and any other program/group that uses the MLK pool during the heat of the summer.

This USA Swimming approved event brought all of our kids together on October 20th to swim for 2 hours or to swim as many laps as possible. It was a fun family event and everyone on the team worked to make it a success!
